About da capo School for Performing Arts
da capo School for Performing Arts opened in Canterbury on 6th October 2003 with a large, varied and affordable timetable not offered by any other school in the area. Whether you wish to pursue a successful career in performing arts or have simply always wished you could hum along to a song in tune, da capo will have a class to suit your needs. Its friendly, lively atmosphere welcomes students of all ages (including adults) and promises that all students will develop technique in individual disciplines and performance.
As the school continues to expand, new classes are always opening and you will find a list of classes due to open soon on our notice-boards in reception.
In class, students concentrate on syllabus work as well as preparing for upcoming performances giving them a full appreciation of the wide and varied industry, all elements of which are essential to today's prospective professional performer. A number of da capo students have and are still working professionally within the industry and we aim to provide training to support such work.
As a performing arts school the emphasis is, of course, on performance. Whilst we appreciate and work to syllabus’ set by national governing bodies we recognise that students need to showcase their accomplishments on a regular basis.
With this in mind da capo stages a minimum of 3 shows each year, some in fully working theatres in or around Canterbury and others in its own, spacious studios. Students also have the opportunity to audition for our dance troupe where they will perform at various venues ranging from local garden fetes to national television work. Choreographic competitions, singing recitals and plays are held giving students even more opportunities to showcase their talents.
As well as our regular classes and performances we also hold holiday schools providing an intensive and exciting week learning and rehearsing shows to be performed at the close of the week. These holiday schools are not exclusively for da capo students - we welcome applications from those who are not members of the school as well. For further details please visit the holiday school page.
da capo is an ever-expanding school set to achieve bigger and better things whilst maximising the potential of its students. We are very aware that this industry is an expensive one and for that reason our class prices and rehearsal fees are kept to a minimum without compromising quality in any way. There are a limited number of scholarships available and interested parties should write to the school. |
